MARTHA KICKS OFF CAMPAIGN WITH
PRO-TROOP + MAFPAC SUPPORT!
 |
This weekend, our longtime friend Martha Zoller officially kicked off her campaign for congress in her own hometown of Gainesville, GA. We welcome her decision to run for office, something people have been asking her to do for years and, because we know she supports the troops, we pledge our support to her candidacy.
Martha's kickoff event was well attended by veterans, military families, tea partiers and radio listeners, as she is a household name in the community.
"Every morning for the past 15 years, folks have turned on their radio and heard Martha's conservative message. People already know what she stands for." said her campaign manager Ryan Mahoney at the rally in downtown Gainesville.
At MAF we look for candidates who support the troops, that's our most important issue, and we know that Martha is a huge supporter of our military and their missions to keep America safe and free. She's so committed that she's traveled to Iraq TWICE to help the troops and Gold Star families that she cares for so much! |

Presidential
Preference
Primary
for
Georgia
set
for
Tuesday,
March
6,
2012 |
Secretary of State Brian Kemp has announced that Georgia’s 2012 presidential preference primary will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Secretary Kemp was given the authority to set the presidential primary date via a modification to Georgia’s statutory code during the 2011 legislative session. Substantial rules changes by the RNC leading up to the 2012 Republican National Convention resulted in states that are “winner-take-all” states like Georgia not having the ability to hold their primaries without losing ½ of their potential delegates if the primary was held before April 1, 2012.
Behind the scenes, much planning and labor was completed by the Georgia Republican Party to facilitate this decision. Secretary Kemp worked closely with party leaders prior to his formal announcement. The GAGOP Rules Committee and State Committee convened to approve a rule change that allowed the Secretary Kemp the flexibility necessary to ensure that Georgia voters would remain a strong voice in the 2012 primary process as we select our next President.
Prior to the rules change, Georgia was a winner-take-all system and would have lost ½ of its delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa if the primary was held before April 1, 2012. The proposed change to the GAGOP allows Georgia’s delegates to be allotted on a proportional basis if the Georgia primary was held before April 1, 2012.
The GAGOP commends Secretary of State Brian Kemp for his efforts and diligence in the selection of March 6, 2012 as the presidential preference primary date in Georgia.

Newt Gingrich 6%
Jon Huntsman 5%

Our pal Herman Cain won Florida’s Presidency 5 straw poll over the weekend. He didn’t just win .. he creamed the competition. Herman won 37% of the vote, winning more support than Rick Perry (15%) and Mitt Romney (14%) combined. Here’s how the rest of the field fell: Rick Santorum (11%), Ron Paul (10%), Newt Gingrich (8%), Jon Huntsman (2.3%) and Michele Bachmann came in dead last with 1.5%. Wow, talk about a loss of momentum for Bachmann .. So what does this all mean? Well for starters we should note that every winner of Florida’s Presidency 5 straw poll has gone on to win the GOP nomination. Read mores to be true again for 2012, then you will hear no complaints from me.

What
They
are
Saying!
|
Last night, Herman Cain dominated the FOX News/ Google/ Republican Party of Florida debate. Whether it was detailing his 9-9-9 Plan or sharing the touching story of his survival of stage IV cancer, Herman captivated the audience both at the debate and at home.
The pundits agreed. Check out what they're saying:
Erick Erickson: "The winner is Herman Cain. The audience loved him... Cain's answers really were out of the park awesome. He provided the most uplifting moments and the most memorable lines, with substance included."
Michelle Malkin: "Herman Cain’s passion and personality really stood out... his personal story, business experience, humor, and faith in the American dream really do add a grass-roots Tea Party flavor to an otherwise bland establishment field." Malkin also named Herman the winner of the debate.
Dick Morris, on Twitter: " Cain: great answer on Obamacare. Emphasis on rapidity is key. Really good answer"
Ann Coulter, on Twitter: "Herman Cain crushed tonight."

September 22, 2011, by jgalloway
You’ll remember that after U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, R-Athens, won his congressional seat in 2007, the GOP establishment in east Georgia made a pair of unsuccessful attempts to remove him. That same GOP establishment may have been listening these last few weeks when, after the debut of Georgia’s new congressional maps, rumors abounded that Broun – whose 10th District was vastly changed – might run in the new 9th.
Where certain prominent Republicans had already identified their candidate.
Broun ultimately decided to stay put. But you have to wonder if Roll Call, the D.C. newspaper, might have stumbled upon one of the factors that kept Broun in place. From an assessment of Georgia’s congressional contests:

In the latest Zogby Poll, Herman captured 12 percent of the vote and placed third behind only Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. When voters were asked whether they would support Herman or President Obama in a hypothetical matchup, Herman only trailed Obama by 3 percent. With more name recognition, Herman would definitely have surpassed the president. This poll is very good news for the campaign, and we expect Herman's popularity to rise as more voters hear about his message of Common Sense Solutions. 9/16/2011 Solyndra Scandal Ends Green Jobs Myth
President Barack Obama's solution for America's unemployment woes has been a stubborn campaign to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on economic "stimulus"--much of it on so-called "green jobs." Report after report has shown the approach to be a total failure. And now, a new scandal involving Solyndra, a bankrupt solar panel company in California, should be the final nail in the coffin for the government’s meddling in the free market.Read complete article

▪ Steps to Serving in the Georgia GOP - 2012
2012 will be perhaps one of THE MOST important years in the history of the Republican Party. As you know, it is the presidential election year which could make or break this county. To actively participate as a delegate to county, district, state and the national convention , it is necessary to go through the process. This begins at the Precinct Mass Meetings in February, the County Conventions in March, the District Conventions in April and the State Convention in May. Republican delegates elected at district and state levels will then go to the GOP National Convention in Tampa in August, 2012. There our candidates for President and Vice President will be nominated.

State Sen. Jim Butterworth, R-Cornelia, a Delta Air Lines pilot who once flew B-1 bombers for the Georgia Air National Guard, will replace Major Gen. Terry Nesbitt, who has headed up the state Department of Defense and its $630 million-a-year budget for four years.
Whether the governor intended it or not, Butterworth’s appointment has resulted in an unadvertised purging of the Guard’s top ranks. Read entire article which is very interesting.
Comment. . . Many people are wondering why the governor happened to decide at this particular time to appoint Sen. Butterworth to this position. Butterworth had announced earlier his intention to run for Congress from the new 9th District. Some feel that the Governor wanted Butterworth out of the race for Congress from the 9th District in 2012. This would perhaps make it easier for the governor's guy in this race, Rep. Doug Collins of Gainesville. The other announced candidate for this position is Martha Zoller, well known and popular GA conservative talk show host and activist. http://www.marthaforcongress.com/

▪ Georgia Fails at Improving Teachers
be sure to read this extensive print edition - September 18, 2011 - AJC
▪ Teacher quality: Is it a priority in Georgia? - 9/18/11 On line edition of Get Schooled
|
| As a former teacher for 30 years, I would highly recommend that you read this article. There is much truth here. I could write volumes about my personal experiences as a teacher trying to do the right thing for our students while fighting the politically correct group of principals, assistant principles and many liberal teachers who were primarily interested in their personal interests and their precious TENURE. I retired from DeKalb County School System in Georgia which was in a terrible state back then. I understand that it is even worse now. More on this later. - Bettye Chambers, VRG Webmaster |

September 7 from the Dustin Inman Society:
Dr. Geraldine Wade, a long-time active DIS friend and generous supporter has announced as a candidate to fill the unexpired term of the late Rep. Franklin. I know Gerry to be not only honest, sincere and determined to always do the right thing for Georgia, but also to be a true PRO-ENFORCEMENT American when it comes to immigration/employment laws. I can vouch for Gerry and the fact that she will make a fine and productive state Representative for the 43rd District. I urge all of you in the that district to give Gerry Wade a chance to use here many skills and talents and boundless energy to tackle the tough issues in the Capitol as your next Representative. Gerry is someone who comes out to rallies and really gets her hands on the problem...
DISTRICT 43 VOTERS! PLEASE visit Dr. Wade's campaign Website HERE. I urge you to consider supporting Dr. Geraldine Wade for House District 43. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU PASS THIS ON AND BE AS ACTIVE AS DR. WADE

▪ Gingrich and Cain Perform Exceptionally at Palmetto Freedom Forum
by Tony Lee of Human Events
09/06/2011
There is not a more exceptional person in the 2012 GOP presidential field than Herman Cain in terms of life experiences and private sector success. And there is not a person who is capable of explaining American exceptionalism better than Newt Gingrich. These strengths were on display on Labor Day as both candidates participated in the Palmetto Freedom Forum with three other GOP presidential candidates. Read entire article

Secretary of State Brian Kemp will decide by Dec. 1 when to hold the state’s 2012 presidential primary. A lot is riding on his choice: Picking an advantageous spot on the national primary calendar can help a state gain national attention, revenue and political clout.
Pick wrong and, as Georgia learned in 2008, you get “largely overlooked,” said University of Georgia political scientist Charles Bullock. Read complete article
