Signs of the Times on  Spout Springs Road


A political forum took place on November 1 in Flowery Branch at the Spout Springs Library for the candidates running for the state House seat given up recently by Rep. James Mills. It was hosted by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by Jacobs Media and The Times.  There was a meet and greet the candidates at 5:30. The forum followed at 6:00 with media representatives posing question to the seven candidates in the race, six Republicans and one Democrat.

Republican candidates who spoke at the forum:
▪ Former member of the Hall County Board of Commissioners, Bobby Banks
▪ Local attorney, William "Sonny" Sykes   ▪ Local builder, Todd Reed
▪ Businessman, Emory Donahoo   ▪ Businessman, Dominic Ottaviano
▪ Former Flowery Branch City Councilman, Chris Yardley
One Democrat, Retired Paul Godfrey
 

The forum was called to order by Kit Dunlap of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce who welcomed everyone and explained the format of the evening.  Questions had been prepared in advance and would
be asked by the panel to each candidate. Each of the seven candidates would answer all questions.  Members of the audience were also allowed to submit questions
.

The candidates were introduced and given one minute to introduce themselves and list their major objectives.
